Not only can Bill Cosby not shake bold allegations of rape and sexual misconduct that have accumulated throughout the recent past, but they continue to grow at seemingly every turn. Most recently, three more women, one of whom was an actress and former extra on the wildly-popular Cosby Show, came forward on Wednesday to accuse the legendary entertainer of what has become more of the same…drugging and raping, sexual career extortion, etc.
There are now over 40 women who have publicly accused Cosby of these misdeeds, and it is hard to imagine at this point that there is any end in sight to the list of accusers. It should be noted that not only has Cosby strongly denied the allegations up to this point, but he has never been criminally charged in connection with any of them.
Not helping Cosby’s case in any of this is that over half the women are being represented by high-profile, women’s rights attorney Gloria Allred, who has maintained a public posture of aggressiveness in pursuing the man once universally thought of as “America’s Dad.” As noted, while Cosby has yet to be criminally charged, the resulting, horrible publicity has plunged him into disrepute; he has been dogged by performance cancellations, and a variety of groups and organizations with which he was once affiliated have cut ties with him. Additionally, a significant number of the schools that bestowed honorary titles and degrees to him over the years have now revoked those, in light of the allegations.
